#FridayFlash - Dr. Zanthur's Journal

This week's flash "Dr. Zanthur's Journal" has been removed from the blog since it has been accepted for publication with Flashes in the Dark. For those of you who did not have the chance to read it here, you can read it there. I want to thank everyone for stopping by.

S.B.: This little germ bored into my mind early this morning, somewhere between 5:00 and 6:00 while I tried to wake up, and it wouldn't let go. So, scrapping the story I had planned, I quickly wrote this one down, and here is the result. A bit hasty, but I hope it works.

  1. Stephen, I hope this was meant to be humour because I was wiping tears of laughter from my eyes reading it.

The physical degeneration of the poor misguided fool as everything around him went totally as unplanned.

I love the capture of what just ONE well-intentioned meddler can set in motion, and the far-reaching consequences.

  2. Steve: Yes, I meant it to be humorous, which can be a challenge. What sounded funny to me while writing could be something silly to someone else. Seeing your response, however, was like a breath of cool mountain air: refreshing. Thanks.

  3. This brought a big smile to my face! Poor guy started a zombie world and he has no clue. I kind hope he gets his Suzie back. :)

  4. Oh this was great - mad scientist stuff is always a lot of fun, and this is one of the best theories yet for how zombies might start!

  5. Chuck: From the looks of things, he just might get Suzie back, though it probably won't be the happy reunion that he imagines.

Icy: Thanks. The whole Zombie thing was part of the evolution in this story. It started out one way and then suddenly took a turn halfway through, and I knew where it would finally end up.
